Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th September as a mark of tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society. Teacher’s Day is marked in honour of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on September 5, 1888. Dr Radhakrishnan was India’s first vice president and second president. He was a great scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna recipient.

Importance of Teachers’ Day

Teachers play an important role in our life to become successful in career and business. A good teacher helps us to become a good human being in society and a good citizen of the country. One of the biggest roles a teacher may have is that of a mentor. On 5th September, the students show their gratitude for the contribution of teachers in making them a better human each day and express their respect and love for teachers.

Teacher’s Day is celebrated in schools, colleges, universities and educational institutions of India. On this day students do some performances, dances, skits and host elaborate shows for their beloved teachers.
